Last Sunday, March 17, 2024, in Cal Sait (Riner, Lleida) has started the current season for FPV drone racing of “La Lligeta”, organized by the pilots themselves, and within the framework of the Catalan Air Federation.

This was the first qualifying day of “La Lligueta”, the only Catalan drone racing league, in which more than 20 FPV (First Person View) drone pilots participated, many of which already participated in the 2023 season.

In this first race, each driver obtains an initial classification for his participation in subsequent races. After this qualifying race, seven races are scheduled to be held on different Saturdays, between April and November (except August), in different places in Catalonia.

The format of the races is free flights in the morning and scoring races in the afternoon, following a circuit built by elements such as “gates” and “flags” that must be crossed in the shortest possible time, in the manner and order preset, performing a certain number of laps and overcoming in each one all the obstacles.

Pilots of different levels and experience participate, with a dynamic classification system that allows all of them to enjoy the competition, with objectives within the reach of each one according to their level and in an atmosphere of great companionship, which facilitates learning among all.

FPV racing drones are used, most of them assembled by the pilots themselves, following specifications set by the organization, about the type of propellers (5 inches), type of leds (to be placed in all the legs of the “frame” of the drone), type of motors, minimum weight of the drone (520 grams) and configured with a limited speed (“open spec”) that allows a better comparison between drones, a longer battery life, as well as less breakage of the drones, minimum weight of the drone (520 grams) and configured to a limited speed (“open spec”) that allows a greater equalization between drones, a longer duration of the batteries, as well as a lower breakage of the drones in cases of accidental collision, in addition to the use of regulatory engines in all drones used in the competition. All pilots have been very excited with this new season of “La Lligueta”.
